Ethical Clearance

SINOV : Media Informasi Penelitian Kabupaten Semarang is committed to maintaining research integrity, protecting the rights and welfare of research participants, and promoting responsible scholarly publication. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their research complies with applicable ethical principles, institutional requirements, and relevant national and international regulations.

Manuscripts involving human participants, animals, personal data, or identifiable information must include appropriate statements on ethics approval, informed consent, and consent for publication, where applicable. Authors must accurately report the ethical procedures followed throughout the research process.

1

Subject Consent and Privacy Protection

Research participants have the right to privacy and confidentiality. Authors must obtain informed consent before collecting personal information where required.

Identifying details (names, photos, videos) should be omitted unless essential and consented to. Do not alter or falsify data to conceal identities.

2

Ethics Committee Approval

Authors must state if research received approval from a relevant ethics committee. Human participant research should refer to the Declaration of Helsinki.

Identify the committee and provide the reference number. If waived/exempted, provide a clear statement explaining the basis.

3

Consent for Publication

Consent for publication must be obtained if the manuscript contains identifiable details (photos, case info). Consent to participate does not automatically mean consent to publish.

If the manuscript contains no individual person's data, authors should explicitly state: "Not applicable."

4

Studies Involving Animals

Research involving animals requires a statement confirming animal ethics committee approval and the approval reference number.

Procedures must describe measures taken to minimize pain/distress. If no animals are involved, state: "Not applicable."

5

Research Involving Human Intervention

Invasive procedures, experiments, or interventions require ethics approval and informed consent. Participants must be informed of risks, benefits, and their right to withdraw.

6

Consent from Vulnerable Participants

Extra safeguards are required for children, older persons, or those in dependent relationships. If a participant cannot legally consent, permission from a legal guardian is mandatory.

7

Required Statements in Manuscripts

Authors must include a clearly identified ethics statement addressing:

  • Ethics committee approval (name and reference number).
  • The informed consent procedure for human participants.
  • Consent for publication of identifiable individual information.
  • Ethical approval and animal welfare measures (if applicable).
  • Explanation of any ethics review waiver/exemption.
  • A statement of "Not applicable" for requirements that do not apply.
8

Editorial Assessment and Compliance

The editorial team may request evidence to verify compliance. Failure to comply, misrepresentation, or missing consents may result in manuscript rejection.

Ethical Compliance

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the ethical declarations in their manuscripts accurately reflect the research conducted and comply with applicable institutional, legal, and ethical requirements.
