Correction and Retraction Policy

SINOV : Media Informasi Penelitian Kabupaten Semarang is committed to maintaining the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the scholarly record. The journal recognizes that errors may occasionally be identified after publication and that serious concerns may arise regarding the validity, originality, or ethical compliance of a published article.

Editorial decisions are made with reference to the principles of publication ethics and the guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Core Principle

Corrections and retractions are intended to protect the scholarly record. They are not intended to punish authors for honest mistakes or legitimate differences of academic interpretation.

1

Grounds for Correction

A correction may be issued when an error affects accuracy or clarity but does not invalidate principal findings. Examples include:

  • Errors in author metadata or affiliations.
  • Minor factual, citation, or typo errors.
  • Errors in figures/tables causing misunderstanding.
  • Omissions in disclosures or funding statements.
2

Grounds for Retraction

Retraction applies when circumstances undermine the article's reliability or originality, such as:

  • Fabrication, falsification, or major errors.
  • Plagiarism or redundant publication.
  • Manipulation of the peer-review process.
  • Undisclosed material conflicts of interest.
3

Reporting Errors and Concerns

Anyone may notify the journal of a suspected concern. Reports should be specific and include:

  • Article title, authors, and DOI.
  • Clear description of the error/concern.
  • Supporting evidence, sources, or documents.
4

Editorial Assessment & Investigation

The Editor-in-Chief conducts an initial assessment impartially. Authors are given a chance to respond. If necessary, the journal may refer misconduct cases to the author's institution.

5

Editorial Decisions and Corrective Actions

Depending on the evidence, the journal may take proportionate actions:

  • No further action: if concern is unsupported.
  • Correction notice: to fix errors without invalidating findings.
  • Expression of concern: if credible unresolved concerns require investigation.
  • Retraction notice: if necessary to protect the scholarly record.
  • Referral/Investigation: for institutional assessment.
6

Publication of Correction Notices

A formal correction notice identifying the error will be linked to the original article to maintain transparency. The journal avoids making "silent" substantive changes.

7

Publication of Retraction Notices

A retraction notice explains the reason for retraction. The original article remains in the archive but is clearly marked as retracted to correct the scholarly record.

8

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors must promptly notify the journal if they discover errors and cooperate with inquiries. Authors may submit reasoned responses if they disagree with proposed actions.

9

Transparency & Ethical Standards

The journal handles post-publication concerns independently and transparently, protecting confidentiality and ensuring decisions are based on evidence.
